We collect information in three situations:

  • When you use calculators without an account: year of birth (or age range), gender, country, wealth and other inputs you provide to generate results; limited technical data (IP address, device/browser info) for security and rate-limiting.
  • When you create and use an account: email address, login and verification events (including a trusted-device identifier), your saved scenarios/preferences, and your consent choices for cookies/analytics/ads.
  • Payments and subscriptions: metadata from Stripe such as customer ID, subscription ID, price ID, status, and billing period end. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

If you don’t provide certain information (e.g., email for an account), we may not be able to provide the requested features such as saving scenarios or managing subscriptions.

We use essential cookies for security and core functionality (for example, login, CSRF protection, trusted device checks). Non-essential tracking is off by default and only enabled after consent.

Optional categories include:

  • Analytics: privacy-first analytics help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • Performance diagnostics: anonymous performance/error telemetry helps us identify errors and improve reliability.

  • Security and abuse prevention: rate-limiting, fraud/abuse detection, and account protection.

  • Calculator inputs (no account): retained as needed to deliver results and protect the service; aggregated/anonymised statistics may be kept longer.
  • Accounts and dashboard data: retained while your account is active unless deletion is requested.
  • Subscription and billing records: retained as required by law.
  • Optional analytics/marketing data: retained per provider settings and legal requirements.

7. Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only where necessary, and in the following situations:

  • Service providers (processors): We use trusted providers to help us operate Retire-Map (for example, payments, hosting, email delivery, and analytics/diagnostics where enabled). These providers may process personal data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
  • Specialist introductions (only when you ask us to): If you request an introduction to a specialist or partner, we will share the information needed to connect you (typically your name and contact details and a brief summary of your request). We will only do this with your explicit consent at the point of request.
  • Co-marketing with partners (opt-in only): From time to time, we may run joint webinars, events or guides with partners. If you register for one of these, you may be given the option to hear from both Retire-Map and the partner. We will only share your details with a partner for their marketing if you explicitly opt in.
  • Marketing partners (optional): If you enable marketing cookies, marketing partners may receive limited device/browser information to measure campaign performance and help show more relevant ads on other sites. You can control this via Preferences.
  • Legal and safety: We may share information where required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect Retire-Map, our users, or others from fraud or abuse.

We apply data minimisation and appropriate safeguards when sharing information.

8. Marketing Emails and Partner Communications

  • Retire-Map newsletter: sent only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Partner sharing: we do not share your mailing list details with partners by default.
  • Future partner offers: if we introduce partner co-marketing that involves sharing your details, we will request explicit opt-in consent before any sharing occurs.

We do not share your details with partners for their marketing unless you explicitly opt in.

Your data may be processed outside the UK/EU by some providers. Where applicable, we rely on safeguards such as adequacy decisions and Standard Contractual Clauses.
