At Retire Map, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you interact with our platform.

We collect information in three situations:

  • When you use the calculators (no account): age range / year of birth, gender, country, wealth and other inputs you provide to generate results; limited technical data (IP address, device/browser info) for security and rate-limiting.
  • When you create and use an account: email address, login and verification events (including a trusted-device identifier), your saved scenarios and preferences, and your consent choices for cookies/analytics/ads.
  • Payments & subscriptions: we receive metadata from Stripe such as Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, price ID, status, and billing period end. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

We use essential cookies for security and core functionality (e.g., login, CSRF protection, trusted-device). Non-essential cookies for analytics and advertising are off by default and load only if you opt in via our banner.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the service: run calculations you request; operate your account and dashboard; manage subscriptions and billing.
  • To improve the product (optional): if you enable Google Analytics, we analyse aggregate usage to spot problems and decide what to build next.
  • Advertising (optional): if you enable Google AdSense, we may show personalised ads. You can turn this off any time. We may also track ad/referral clicks in a pseudonymous way to understand user interest and improve services. We do not currently use third-party ad networks or tracking cookies beyond those disclosed; any future changes will be announced with clear consent options.
  • Security & abuse prevention: rate-limiting, fraud/abuse detection, and protecting accounts (e.g., trusted devices).

5. Legal Bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)

  • Contract / to provide the service: running calculators you request; your account and subscription features.
  • Consent: analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense). These are disabled unless you opt in.
  • Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, service diagnostics, and basic service communications.
  • Legal obligations: tax and accounting record-keeping for payments.

6. Data Retention

  • Calculator inputs (no account): kept as needed to deliver results and protect the service, typically short-lived; aggregated/anonymised stats may be retained longer.
  • Accounts & dashboard: retained while your account is active. You can request deletion.
  • Subscription & billing records: retained as required by tax and accounting laws.
  • Analytics data (if enabled): retained under Google's standard GA policies; we use aggregate reports.

7. Sharing & Service Providers

We do not sell your data. We share data only with providers that help us run Retire-Map:

  • Stripe (payments & billing): processes your payments and manages subscriptions. Stripe is generally an independent controller for payment data.
  • Google Analytics (optional): if you consent, Google provides aggregated usage analytics.
  • Hosting & email: cloud hosting, email delivery and error monitoring used to operate the service.

We only share the minimum necessary and have appropriate safeguards in place.

8. International Transfers

Your data may be processed outside the UK/EU by our providers (e.g., Google, Stripe). When this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions and the EU/UK Standard Contractual Clauses.

Residents of the UK, EU or applicable regions may request:

  • Access to any personal data we may hold
